Kano: Police Arrests 62 Phone Snatchers, Recovers Indian Hemp Valued Over N2 Million

The Kano State Police Command has recovered 68 phones stolen by 62 phone snatchers, who were arrested across the state.

The Command’s Public Relations officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, stated this while addressing newsmen at the Command’s Headquarters in Kano.

He said the successes recorded by the command were under Operation Puff Adder. He said the Command has also arrested 242 suspects that committed various crimes.

Those arrested includes 24 armed robbery suspects, 17 kidnap suspects. He said those arrested were from the 9th of September 2020 to 15 October 2020.

He said the police also confiscated Indian hemp Valued at N2.820m. The command also advised the public to desist from renting their motorcycles as perpetrators of crime are using it for phone snatching and other criminal activities.

DSP Haruna further said the Kano state Police command has also arrested a suspect who stabbed a tricycle operator thinking he died.

But when the victim eventually recovered, the police were able to trace and succeeded in arresting the suspect who stabbed him.
