Bayelsa: Dickson declares war on ghost workers Strenghtens whistleblowing policy with launch of “Countriman Direct”

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday intensified the ongoing campaign against the endemic fraud in the state by launching a programme named “Countriman Direct”. The programme is code named "Operation Flush out Payroll Fraud." The programme is designed to give the citizens the opportunity to communicate directly with the governor on security, fraud and related issues in the country.

The four dedicated lines released by the Governors for the programme are 07068405809, 07011938880, 09083485732, 08056085520.

The Contriman Direct is designed to give the citizens the opportunity to communicate directly with the governor under assured protection.

Launching the project, the Governor stressed that all information from concerned citizens would be treated with confidentiality. The programme also provided  two email addresses: contrimandirect@yahoo.com and contriman direct@gmail.com to enable interested members of the public to send emails directly to the Governor. The programme has a twitter handle named @contrimandirect.

Dickson called on Bayelsa people to take advantage of the programme to support his campaign against fraud by blowing the whistle on payroll fraudsters. The governor urged the citizens to utilize the opportunity by sending text messages to the lines directly to him as they would be monitored and analyzed every morning.

He described the payroll fraud as a crime against humanity and the Ijaw nation which required a concerted effort to stop. Dickson said that coordinated action against payroll fraud would clean up the system and ensuremthat funds are saved for project execution in the education, healthcare, security, infrastructural development and security in the state. He said that the citizens had a responsibility to act against who receive salaries without going to work, those who received multiple salaries and others.
