COVID-19: Bayelsa Governor Signs Emergency Regulation Order

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, Thursday signed the Executive Order on COVID-19 measures and pronouncements titled: Bayelsa State Infectious Disease Prevention  Emergency Regulation Order 2020.

The Executive Order is based on the National Quarantine Act section 8.1(d). It is therefore a domestication of the Act in Bayelsa State aimed at enforcing:

  1. Partial restriction at all markets in Bayelsa State.
  2. Only traders in food items and pharmaceuticals will be allowed at the markets.
  3. Ministries of Health and Environment as well as the Sanitation Authority will supervise and ensure compliance alongside security personnel.

Governor Diri announced the additional measures after an extensive meeting of the COVID-19 Task Force. As at the time mof this report, GRANDNEWS learnt that the Governor would be making a state wide broadcast to Bayelsans by 7 pm.
